Lightbulb Ideas for guild membership and leaving a guild

I did a search for this suggestion and nothing came up, so if it has already been suggested I am sorry!

I am the Guild Leader of Ryu Ryu, and it gets quite frustrating when you have people join just to leave immediately or to ask for free items and whether you give them items or not, they just leave... I have been brainstorming ideas with my officers, and they agree that it isn't fair that we spend all this money to just get ripped off. I know Guild Wars tries to crack down on scammers, well people that do that are technically scammers.

My Officers and I think that it should charge people to leave a guild. How much is debatable. For the most part the amount jumps between 50-200g from the suggestions from my officers.

Another idea that goes with charging them, is to make it more expensive the more guilds they leave. Obviously put a cap on it like the skills, but that would harm the people that Guild Hop the most, and it would promote loyalty to a guild. Find 1 guild you like and stay with it, you know. Start at like 10g and go up from there or something.

Also, if you could make it so people could send a request to a guild to be added that would be awsome. Of course you would have to know the name of the guild, but it would help some guilds out.

Simply make this way...you can only join 1 guild per week or month.

SO people will have to stick whith their choice for this period, and would only be abble to join a new one after it expires.

Latter.

What about the innocent gamers who have a stream of bad guilds or the "Rar rar join our guild we have 99 members one more space!! quick" and then its you and him.

WarCraft III has a "you cannot be promoted/leave until the one-week probation period has ended" system. It works out quite well, actually.

Imagine how awful it must be to be the leader of the highest ranked guilds and recieve a hundred invites an hour...

Why are you inviting people like that? it seems to me the problem is your system of recruitment and finding people.

Charging people to leave a guild? Thats ridiculous. I like the idea of a probation system better.

Im fine with the current system of guild leaving / joining.

a member who do what you described probably is a morron. you are sure you want force them to stay in your guild?

if actually people start a guild with a rescrict amount of friends and after the "core" is readly start recruiting screening people carefull would much better.

your suggestion of people selfinviting in your guild clearly define your probrem.

if you invite random people they mostly will turn of crappy

...that and don't be giving away things to new people in your guild. Especially if the first thing they ask is to get free items. If you barely know them, you have no reason to trust them yet. It's that simple. If they're new to the game, it shouldn't be a hassle to farm them a decent weapon for their level. It just gets to me when I invite someone and the first thing they as is for a max green sword and 10k.

How about this. Don't give anything to new people. If they ask for it just kick them.

Why should you have to pay or wait a week to leave some inactive, noob guild?

They should drop the 100g fee and that would settle everything.

I've left guilds as soon as I've joined for numerous reasons..

1. Inactive (15 memebers 10 have been gone a month or more)
2. Populated by moronic school kids (not saying all school kids just a select few)
3. Totally useless
4. Demand money as soon as I arrive "we need new NPC for guild give us 10k"
5. Demand I donate money to the guild to give out to officers for thier armor.
6. Being told I MUST help people because i have a level 20

Thats just some of the reasons I've quit a guild, time varies from arrival to 1 week after joining.

Yeah Ive had things like that happen. Once I joined a guild because the leader seemed really nice but once I got in the other members were total....not nice people.....So I left 3 minutes later.

I'd rather have it so starting a guild costs 10K, and you have to have a lvl 20 to start it. Then we wouldn't have all these little pissant guilds running around trying to snap up members who will all just leave within a week or two... or will stay in the guild for no reason other than a snazzy cape, and never know what a good guild is like.
